Gotabaya Rajapksa remains defiant. He was voted to power by the people of Sri Lanka. And today, the ill-conceived policies of his government and the bad administration have brought his citizens to the streets. NDTV's Sreeja MS speaks to people who used to do odd jobs and have today lost their livelihoods. They have travelled hundreds of kilometres from across the country to Galle Face-Gotagogama to stand in solidarity with the young generation who have erected tents to provide food so that these people don't die in hunger. NDTV speaks to those who have lost their jobs, have no money to pay rent and feed their families. These people with no savings have been sleeping on the footpaths in Galle Face.
