The BCCI on Tuesday said it was not aware of the Kochi consortium's "links" with ex-India captain Sunil Gavaskar, who was a member of the IPL's Governing Council before being ousted a few weeks ago.

The six companies that own Kochi are at war over how much free equity should be given to the Gaikwads, who led the consortium when it paid 333 million dollars for the team. Satyajit Gaikwad, the group CEO, says he's working on making peace within the group. The real issue, though, is whether Gaikwad will control the franchise.

BCCI President Shashank Manohar says that the group has to prove its infighting has ended. When asked why two other teams that were dropped - Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab were not given a similar 30-day notice period - he said Kochi's case "is different".
