Shops, Homes Washed Away: Locals In Sikkim's Rangpo Narrate How They Escaped
The images of destruction are quite clear as one enters Sikkim. The flash flood has left the town of Rangpo in complete ruins. Heavy equipment, including cement mixers and earthmovers, at a construction site in the town are seen submerged in sludge left behind by the flood waters. As Teesta's water entered the town, most buildings were completely submerged. Several have lost their livelihoods, their shops.
