Young Professionals Create New Model Of Development

The children of farmers are no longer willing to take up the back-breaking occupation of farming the way in which their parents have done. To prevent migration, it is essential that technological improvements are made in farming and it has to be done through low-cost customized tools or equipment which the farmers will find useful. The fellows from Youth for India fellowship, based on their respective backgrounds have worked on various types of technological interventions. However, a common learning for all of them has been that for a variety of reasons, tools that are widely used in a rural scenario in India, have not seen any innovation over thousands of years, particularly as far as small individual farmers or artisans are concerned.
