The controversial National Register for Citizens resulted in frenzied protests in Parliament from the Opposition. We look at how the issue of citizenship, key to the lives of the 40 lakh people in Assam, may, in fact, be political fodder not just for the government, but also the Opposition. On a day when Mamata Banerjie is in Delhi rallying the Opposition around this issue, we ask whether Mamata Banerjee has double standards on this issue given what she has said in the past.
