Uttar Pradesh's Nawabgarh has a population of 2,000 people, 80 per cent of whom are Muslims. Most of them earn their living as casual labourers. Only a minority own land, while the others live below the poverty line. And they have no expectations from elections. Politicians come here only during elections to ask for votes, and are never to be seen again, villagers say.
