Joe Biden Warns Of "Nuclear Armageddon", Centre Moves To Appoint New Chief Justice

US President Joe Biden said Thursday the world risks nuclear "Armageddon" for the first time since the Cold War and that he is trying to find Russian President Vladimir Putin's "off-ramp" in the Ukraine conflict. The government on Friday initiated process for appointment of Justice DY Chandrachud as next Chief Justice of India by writing to Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit to recommend his successor. As per the convention, sitting CJI will recommend his or her successor a month ahead of retirement. With the process being set in motion, Chief Justice Lalit cannot convene collegium meetings any longer for appointment of judges in higher judiciary and other top stories
