As 70 lakh people continue to remain in a virtual curfew and information blackout for the eighth consecutive day, visuals have emerged out of Jammu and Kashmir depicting the pomp and preparations ahead of Independence Day. With political leaders still under arrest, this contrast only deepens the mystery and confusion over the lockdown. While government officials maintain that there is calm and only "limited acts of unrest", why is their no end to the J&K lockdown?
