On 9th December 1946, the members of the Constituent Assembly met for the first time. For the next two years and 11 months, these men and a few women from across the country, often with dramatically differing ideologies would debate a vison for India, now enshrined in our Constitution - the basis of our Republic. These debates were dramatic, lively, democratic and tried to be as inclusive as possible. On India's 68th Republic Day, we look back at two Constituent Assembly members, who represented very different minorities of this country - Jaipal Singh, a great tribal leader, the other Begum Aizaz Rasul, the Assembly's only Muslim woman.
