In politically sensitive West Bengal, three back-to-back developments today promise to dominate the election narrative as the state gets ready to vote on April 19. The Calcutta High Court ordered a court-monitored CBI probe into the sexual assault and land grabbing allegations made by villagers of Sandeshkhali against TMC leaders. Women had come out in large numbers to protest against Sheikh Shahjahan and his aides, accusing them of sexual abuse, harassment, and land grab. Meanwhile, Amit Shah who was in Balurghat in North Bengal today hit out at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), accusing her of misleading people. He said that only PM Modi and a BJP government in Bengal can stop infiltration into the state. The Calcutta High Court also pulled up the state police over an FIR filed against a National Investigation Agency offer. TMC leaders have been demanding a change in NIA boss, alleging misuse of the central agency by the BJP
