Minister of State for Agriculture, Sanjeev Balyan, has said that meat exports are shrinking. This, when India is the number one exporter of beef in the world. Various political parties, including the Samajwadi Party, want a blanket ban on beef export, a thought that has bothered the meat exporting industry - an industry worth nearly Rs 30,000 crore. Are the Agriculture Ministers concerns of illegal cow slaughter valid and can India really afford to ban beef? We debate, on Agenda.
