Shillong News | Massive Fire Engulfs Shillong’s Busy Bara Bazar Area
A massive fire broke out at the Geonka compound near Sohra Stand in Shillong’s Bara Bazar area on Friday evening, gutting around 40 makeshift houses and displacing several families. Six fire tenders were rushed to the spot, with more deployed to bring the blaze under control. Police confirmed that no casualties have been reported so far and said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Cabinet Minister and local MLA Sanbor Shullai visited the site to assess the situation and meet affected families.
