The video appears to show Sarathkumar crushing a white powder using an ATM card on a mobile phone while watching an IPL match from a stadium. The clip, reportedly shared years ago with his close friends under the caption "Thug Life," has triggered allegations from the DMK, which claims the minister was using drugs.
Responding to the controversy, Sarathkumar released a clarification, stating that he was not consuming drugs. According to the minister, he was crushing tablets to prepare medicine for his child, who was unwell that day.
