Reinventing Mohiniyattam: Dancer to perform Tom and Jerry stories
Mohiniyattam is one of Kerala's best-known dance forms. But, as the case with most traditional art forms, this classical dance, which is based on the Natya Shastra scriptures, is a dying art with very few takers. However, not being one to give up, Hemalatha Kalamandalam, a Mohiniyattam dancer, has decided to give this dance a new lease of life by staging stories of cartoon characters Tom and Jerry through it.
