The Indian meteorological department's office in Odisha issued a red alert for several districts in the state, including the capital city of Bhubaneswar, due to the ongoing heatwave. They also predict that the dry spell will persist for the next 4 to 5 days. According to officials, this is the longest heatwave spell that the state has experienced since 2010.
