A day ago at a top UN meet on climate, PM Modi set a series of ambitious goals for India's climate targets. One of the goals was that by 2030, in just less than ten years, India will meet 50 per cent of its energy requirements from renewable energy, reduce carbon emissions by one billion tonnes and by the year 2070, India will achieve the target of net zero emissions. While the speech drew praise from the global press and commentators, questions have been raised that whether the goals are realistic.
