A surprising incident from Rajasthan’s Nagaur has gone viral after a traffic police officer issued a pollution challan to an electric vehicle (EV). The driver confronted the officer, questioning how an EV— which does not emit smoke or require a Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificate—could be fined for pollution. The incident occurred at Krishi Mandi Tiraaha during a routine vehicle check, where the driver was initially penalized ₹200 for black window mesh. However, following an argument, an additional ₹1,500 pollution fine was allegedly issued. The video of the confrontation quickly spread on social media, drawing widespread criticism. After the incident gained attention, traffic police acknowledged the error, stating that the pollution challan was issued inadvertently. Authorities have ordered an inquiry and assured that the incorrect fine will be cancelled.
