Race for World Bank top job heats up, US candidate challenged for first time

On March 23, US President Barack Obama nominated Jin Yong Kim, a Korean-American public health expert, and the President of Dartmouth College, as the US candidate for President of the World Bank. In the normal course of events, Kim would sail through, with the US and Europe both voting for his candidacy. But not this time. Leaders of some developing and emerging economies have refused to support President Obama's unexpected choice to lead the bank.
