Punjab's Painful Past Returns To Centre Stage Over Satluj | A Film Has Divided Punjab Again

The controversy surrounding the film Satluj has escalated into a major political flashpoint in Punjab. After the film's removal from a streaming platform sparked a debate on free speech, political parties have now seized on the issue. The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) has announced statewide screenings of the film, saying it will educate younger generations about the alleged atrocities against Sikhs during the Congress governments. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has also planned a protest march and special Ardas. While the Congress says it supports the film's release, it accuses the Akali Dal of exploiting Punjab's painful past for political gains.
