Pune Woman Dies After 'Dahi Handi' Structure Collapses On Her Head During Janmashtami Celebrations

A 45-year-old woman, Salma Salauddin Pathan, died after a heavy iron structure used for a Dahi Handi celebration collapsed on her in Pune’s Old Sangvi area. The incident occurred while members of the mandal were dismantling the structure after the festival and was captured on CCTV. The woman’s son was reportedly working as a volunteer with the same Dahi Handi mandal. The family has not filed a police complaint, but Sangvi Police have taken cognizance of the incident and are following up with the family to register a case.
