Protests In China Are Unprecedented: Former Foreign Secretary
"This is quite unprecedented. A lot of people thought this could happen, but that it would happen in this manner was not expected. It is not that demonstrations are foreign to China. This is much more than a local issue. This is a winter of discontent nationwide. Xi Jinping is the lightning rod of these protests," Nirupama Rao, ex-Foreign Secretary, said when asked whether the protests in China can be called unprecedented.
