The recent landslide in Kullu and those preceding it such as at Shiv Temple and Krishna Nagar, Shimla; have raised the question of whether this hill capital is safe. Unauthorised construction, lack of proper drainage and authorisation of unauthorised buildings in surrounding areas that have now become a part of Shimla Municipal Corporation are cause of concern. When will Shimla get its master plan approved? Will this master plan consider Shimla's unique topography that makes it most prone to natural calamities? Can we make Shimla, climate resilient and safe? Watch Manisha Natarajan in conversation with Shrikant Baldi - Ex IAS & Chairperson - RERA Himachal Pradesh and Mehboob Sheikh – Urban Planner, Shimla Nagar Nigam.
