Politics Hijacking Student Protest?

The political showdown over the NEET paper leak continued to dominate Parliament, with the government and the Opposition locking horns over student protests in Delhi and demands for accountability.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh accused the Opposition of using the country's youth as a political tool and misleading students. He urged Opposition parties to debate the issue inside Parliament instead of taking the fight to the streets.

The Opposition, however, remained firm on its demand for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said Pradhan must step down before any discussion on the NEET paper leak can begin. Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav echoed the demand and questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's silence on the controversy.
