Are the RSS and the government at loggerheads? Today, the last nail might have been hammered into the coffin of that buzz. As RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat turned 75, the Prime Minister penned a rare tribute to him.
In his blog, the Prime Minister described Bhagwat as a leader who embodies the principle of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam and has dedicated his life to societal transformation and strengthening the spirit of harmony and fraternity. He also commended Bhagwat for bringing his own strength, intellectual depth, and empathetic leadership to the role of Sarsanghchalak - all inspired by the principle of "Nation First."
This year is significant, as the RSS enters its centenary year, and the Prime Minister also turns 75. This is especially noteworthy because, after the 2024 elections, BJP's rivals insisted there had been a falling out between the Sarkar and the Sangh. Many waited with bated breath to see if the RSS would nudge Mr. Modi out of the prime ministership once he turned 75. But both men seem to have set all such critics up for disappointment.
