On Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi returned Pakistan's Kashmir fire with Balochistan bomb. He said that he wanted to "thank people of Balochistan, Gilgit and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir for expressing gratitude and sadbhavna towards me and through me to 125 crore Indians". This on a day Mehbooba Mufti called for talks saying India-Pakistan peace is a must for peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
