After a long dry spell, Maharashtra was lashed by the rains over the week. Villages were submerged, especially in Konkan and western Maharashtra. The raging Krishna river swallowed over three-kilometre of the areas road and a bridge - a road that otherwise connects Khairewadi to Narsimhawadi and then goes on to Kolhapur. Without the road, the villagers will have to depend only on boats.
