In two days from now, the next phase of voting will include the volatile region of western Uttar Pradesh where riots in Muzaffarnagar have left wounds that are still raw. But as our special ground report shows, it is politicians who are responsible for fresh injuries. While BJP's senior leader Amit Shah is already facing an Election Commission notice for his contentious comments on the election being an ooportunity to "seek revenge", other candidates in the region are also making speeches that are inflammatory. So if Mr Shah talks of "beggars becoming millionaires" because of slaughter houses, the sitting BSP MP from Muzaffarnagar, Kadir Rana has openly asked for votes in the name of Islam. Samajwadi Party's Azam Khan, under attack for his role in last year's riots, has gone one step further by calling Mr Shah "goonda number one".
