Hours after a special court in Ahmedabad delivered its verdict in the 2002 Godhra train-burning case, the 63 people acquitted have been released from Sabarmati Jail. The court had convicted 31 people under Section 302 and 120 B of the Indian Penal Code. 63 people, including one of the key accused, Maulvi Umarji, were acquitted due to lack of evidence.
