Nirmala Sitharaman, cabinet minister for Commerce and Industry since 2014, was sworn in during the Cabinet reshuffle as one of the four ministers being promoted in the current round of cabinet reshuffle. She is a Rajya Sabha MP from Andhra Pradesh. One of BJP's chief spokespersons before she was included in the Modi government, Ms Sitharaman is seen to have grown into her role of Commerce minister. Recently, she travelled to China for a BRICS meeting - a delicate assignment in the middle of a lengthy standoff at the border over Doklam.
