The pressure to stop the hanging of Babbar Khalsa terrorist Balwant Singh Rajoana is building up on the Punjab government. Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal is expected to meet President Pratibha Patil in Delhi late in the evening today and is likely to appeal for clemency. This is after a Chandigarh court ruled on Tuesday that Rajoana, sentenced to death in the 1995 assassination of then Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, is to be hanged as scheduled on March 31.
