Indian scientists are already planning for a permanent Indian lunar village. At the Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru, Dr. Aloke Kumar and his team have developed a model of BHEEM— Bhartiya Extraterrestrial Expandable Modular Habitat. This has been done with Indian astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla’s hands-on involvement as he is a student of this lab alongside his job at ISRO. Speaking to NDTV’s Science Editor Pallava Bagla, Dr Aloke Kumar shows how India’s dream of a “Chhota Bharat” on the Moon is taking shape, one moon brick at a time.
