Varanasi's Manikarnika Ghat was cleaned up as part of the NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India campaign in partnership with the government's Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. This iconic place is amongst the oldest and the most sacred of the ghats in the country. These burning ghats of Varanasi see a lot of people bringing their dead kin to the pyre because of which it is difficult to maintain the place.
