The government is now examining more cross-border deals involving Indian assets, after the controversial Vodafone-Hutch transaction. The income tax department says the Vodafone tax case will be a precedent. Sources say SSN Moorthy, chairman of CBDT, may proceed with its investigations on deals like the SABMiller-Foster and the Sanofi Aventis-Shantha Biotech.
