Opposition Slams India-US Trade Deal, Centre Says Farmers' Interests Safe

A political war of words has erupted over the India-US trade deal, with opposition parties attacking the Centre, claiming the agreement is one-sided and harmful to farmers. The opposition has also alleged that the deal compromises India's dignity. Responding to the criticism, the Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal assured that sensitive and self-sufficient sectors remain protected, and any quota-based concessions are limited to select items.
