Onam is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, a generous and much-loved king, who, according to Hindu mythology, was sent to the nether world by Lord Vishnu (in his Vamana avatar), but was granted the wish to return to Kerala every year. The tradition is usually for a man to dress up as king Mahabali. This year, in Muhamma village in Kerala's Alappuzha, a woman who works as a teacher, decided to dress up as King Mahabali and the video has gone viral.
