North Korea Conducts Second Strategic Cruise Missile Test Within A Week Monitored By Kim Jong Un

Kim Jong Un oversaw North Korea’s second strategic cruise missile test within a week, according to the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). The test was reportedly conducted from the country’s largest naval destroyer, Choe Hyon, with Kim’s daughter Kim Ju Ae also seen monitoring the launch on screens at an undisclosed location. Images released by KCNA showed missiles being launched from the warship and flying over waters west of the Korean Peninsula before striking “island targets.” North Korean media did not specify the number of missiles fired during the test. Kim Jong Un emphasised the importance of strengthening the country’s nuclear deterrent, calling it a “very important strategic task.” The destroyer Choe Hyon had earlier undergone sea trials and reportedly carried out a cruise missile firing test on March 4, according to KCNA.
