Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi has urged the government to withdraw the proposed bill replacing MGNREGA, saying it should not be passed hastily without proper discussion or consultation with Parliament. She said the legislation hurts the sentiments of the entire country, asserting that Mahatma Gandhi belongs to the nation, not any one family. Priyanka Gandhi demanded that the bill be sent to a parliamentary standing committee for detailed scrutiny and wide-ranging discussion, warning against laws being driven by personal ambition, prejudice or haste.
