"No Automatic Right To Form Government": Harish Salve Defends Tamil Nadu Governor

Former Solicitor General Harish Salve defended the Governor's actions in the ongoing government formation standoff in Tamil Nadu involving Vijay. Speaking to NDTV, Salve said there was "nothing unconstitutional" in the Governor seeking more clarity on majority numbers before inviting Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam to form the government. He argued that the Constitution does not automatically grant the single largest party the right to govern and stressed that the Governor's responsibility is to ensure that any government formed can command the confidence of the Assembly.
