Sandeshkhali in West Bengal which witnessed an uneasy calm over the last few days saw fresh tension with protesters coming out on the streets and setting fires on Friday. A Trinamool leader was also attacked. Top police officers including the Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar rushed to Sandeshkhali and appealed for calm. Prohibitory order under Section 144 of the CrPC was imposed once again as fresh tension erupted and a BJP delegation headed to Sandeshkhali led by MP Locket Chatterjee was stopped leading to a fresh face-off between the Trinamool Congress and BJP.
