Citizenship certificates to over 300 people were issued under the Citizenship (Amendment) Act or CAA today, nearly two months after the Centre notified it, initiating the process of granting Indian nationality to persecuted non-Muslim migrants from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. NDTV spoke to beneficiaries of the Citizenship Amendment Act in Delhi. Several people from neighbouring countries who migrated to India and settled in Delhi were granted citizenship by the Centre. A man said CAA has changed his life and thanked Prime Minster Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for bringing the law.
