Days after the BJP's stunning victory in three states, 300 former student activists who took part in Assam's anti-CAA protests joined the party in Guwahati. More than 300 ex-All Assam Students' Union (AASU) workers on Wednesday joined the BJP at a ceremony in Guwahati. Among them, Debyajyoti Medhi, former AASU leader, and ex-Congress MP Kirip Chaliha's son also joined the BJP. Sources said the decision was taken by former AASU leaders and workers after the recent AASU session. The AASU delegation led by former AASU leader Dibyajyoti Medhi met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and expressed their support to BJP earlier.
