"Tribal Challenge" For BJP's Uniform Civil Code Plan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's endorsement of the UCC in Bhopal last week has ignited a discussion. The Law Commission, which published a public notice inviting feedback on the subject, has said that it has already received around 19 lakh suggestions in the past two weeks and this will go on till July 13. But several of the BJP's own allies, especially in the northeast, are opposing a Uniform Civil Code. Top BJP leader Sushil Modi has also expressed concern that it can't be implemented for the tribal community. This could be a huge challenge in drafting the UCC. NDTV's Vasudha Venugopal reports.
