Thirumavalavan's "Manusmriti" Remarks Weakened Women: Actor Gautami

The women's wing of the BJP in Tamil Nadu today protested across the state demanding an apology from VCK chief Thirumavalavan for his remark that the ancient Hindu text Manusmriti demeans women and that 'Manu Dharma' treats women as sex workers. The state police detained actor Khusbu ahead of her protest at Cuddalore. Actor Gautami led protests in Chennai. She told NDTV that the comments have made women more vulnerable.
