Punjab Government Officials, Out To Stop Stubble Burning, Face Farmers' Anger

Government officials in Punjab are at the receiving end of farmers as they try to make attempt to stop stubble burning in the state. On Wednesday, a revenue officials hostage who had gone to stop farmers from burning in stubble was held hostage for hours; he was released oly after the local tehsildar intervened. As per the official information, 1,692 cases of stubble fire was reported between September 21 and October 7 this year as against 302 and 307 between the said dates during 2018 and 2019.
