Uttarakhand's Uniform Civil Code bill is for the protection of children, women, and the elderly, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said. "BR Ambedkar in the constituent assembly wanted to bring it but there were provisions in the constitution. Uttarakhand got the privilege to do it," he said. "For us, the protection of children is important and it's for giving assurance to their parents and giving security to the children. There have been incidents in the past and this provision will provide protection," he added.
