Mumbai To Get Heavy Rain As Cyclone Nisarga Set To Make Landfall Tomorrow

Cyclone Nisarga is likely to intensify into a "severe cyclonic storm" and will make landfall close to Mumbai at noon on Wednesday. 110 kmph winds and waves up to 6 feet are expected. The NDRF has also evacuated villagers in Palghar district to safety. "Mumbai will experience heavy downpour along with strong surface winds of the order of 90-100 kmph and gusting up to 110 kmph," Mahesh Palawat, Vice President, Meteorology and Climate Change at Skymet Weather tells NDTV. The cyclone will make landfall any time after 1 pm around Alibaug but the process will start from 12pm and will take 2-3 hours to complete. Windspeed and rainfall will reduce after landfall.
