Managing a meal without onions

The price of onions has gone through the roof retailing at Rs 80 a kg in most parts of the coutry. A number of factors, like drought in Maharashtra and heavy rain in other growing areas have impacted the vegetable. A worrying factor is also the role of middlemen hoarders who may be sending up the price. NDTV talks to some housewives in Chennai as they try to figure how to manage without the Indian meal staple.
