Onions At Rs 25/Kg: Centre Steps In To Avert Crisis As Prices Soar

Onions from buffer stocks will be made available to retail consumers at a subsidized rate of Rs 25 per kg through outlets and mobile vans of the National Cooperative Consumers' Federation from August 21. The retail sale of onions will be suitably enhanced in the coming days by involving other agencies and e-commerce platforms. An export duty of 40% was imposed with immediate effect and will be in place till December 31.
