There is a curious connection between Kolkata and the Charlie Hebdo tragedy in Paris. One of the cartoonists shot dead on Wednesday was in Kolkata in 2005, during the book fair, and spent two weeks there, caricaturing it. The cartoonist was Bernard Verhlac, best known as Tignous. What struck him most about Kolkata? How noisy it was, noise he will never hear again.
