A hotel owner and his family sat in protest demanding compensation for the families to be impacted by the demolition in Joshimath, the 'sinking' town of Uttarakhand. His hotel is among 600 other buildings that have developed cracks and identified as unsafe by the authorities. "My son lives in France. I can go anywhere but I'm sitting here for the people of Joshimath," said T Singh Rana, who owns the Malari Inn.
